General objective
The objective of Special Immunization Drive is to ensure coverage of children with all scheduled vaccines as per Universal Immunization Program and PW with Td, throughout the state with emphasis on the indentified high priority areas.
Specific objectives
The aim of the special immunization drive is to
- To reach the unreached
- To strengthen routine immunization program and health systems
- Generating high demand for immunization services by addressing communication challenges
- Ensuring that the partially immunized and unimmunized children are fully immunized as per national immunization schedule

The targeted beneficiaries during the SID will be left-out and drop-out children upto 5 years of age for all antigen and pregnant women to be vaccinated with Td as identified in Head Count Survey.
This special drive will be conducted in all the districts of the State and will focus intensively in vacant subcenters area, sub centers who have not conducted RI in the last three months and poor performing SCs (SCs with high drop out and left out children) through additional sessions. However, left out and drop out children in remaining areas would be covered through updated microplans and community mobilization activities under routine immunization sessions. The entire drive would be supported through intensified monitoring and supportive supervision through medical college faculties and development partners.
